Your own tree!
From Friday, April 16, you will be able to plant your own tree in a huge virtual 3D world. Each tree you plant will have your name and web site connected to it, so everyone can see who planted which tree.

A real tree for a virtual tree
The income from the tree planting will be donated to charities or organisations who are involved with nature and trees. You will be able to vote on which charities.

What does a tree cost and what do I get?
Planting a tree costs 200 credits (2 Euro). You get the choice of different kinds of tree seedlings you can plant, a unique login ID (free!), and your name and web site on the tree. And of course the satisfaction that you are contributing to a real tree!

How do you plant a tree?
You are going to choose a tree and plant it where you want in the virtual forest, together with others from all over the world.

Follow the 5 simple steps below to plant your tree:

1. Register for a unique naam that will be put on your tree
2. After registering (check your e-mail!) you will be able to log on to AWExchange
3. Choose the number of trees you wish to plant (2 Euro per tree)
4. Pay via Wallie, iDeal, Paypal, creditcard, phone or other
5. Check your e-mail with your payment en tree details about entering the forest

Where?
You are going to plant your tree on a huge piece of land in Activeworlds Europe. You will be able to walk around with others, see who else planted trees, and together share the growth of your tree and the whole forest. You will be able to (voice) chat with the other treeplanters en visitors and discuss your and their ideas.

Visiting the forest
If you are new, follow the installation instructions during the download and log on with a name and e-mail address. (You will enter as a "Tourist").

Then choose LOGIN, CITIZEN in the browser menu and use your name and password you choose and which you will find in your e-mail.

Safety!
The forest is for all ages, which means the chat must be acceptable for young children as well! People who do not follow this simple rule will be ejected from the forest. (We have been on the Dutch CBBC news and even on CNN, we do our best to keep our software and environments safe for all ages)

The Tree planting is organised by Activeworlds Europe for Earthday 2010 (April 22nd).

The goal is to plant as many trees as possible, which will contribute to as many real trees as possible. The income from the Tree planting will be donated to several organisations that you will be able to vote on.

The Tree planting system was developed by Andras Sarkozy, the Activeworlds 3D technologie itself has been used by companies, educational organisations and consumers since 1995. The world for the forest is privately sponsored.
